Unlike the Treo 650, the Treo 680 does not have a reset button under the battery cover. Instead, you will be removing the battery to reset. Read below for details. There are several methods found online, this one seems to be the most “Official”. I will say that it sounds somewhat silly to have to remove the battery to perform this.

HotSync note: Some third-party applications change the way your device backs up data. Other third-party applications do not back up data. If you have third-party software on your device, please contact the developer to learn what components are backed up during a HotSync operation, and if HotSync conduits are altered. Any data not backed up will be lost.

1. Hold down the power (on/off) button on your device.
2. While holding down the power button, turn your smartphone over to see the battery cover.
3. While still holding the power button, remove the battery cover, and fully remove the battery from the device.
4. While still holding the power button, re-insert the battery, and replace the cover.
5. When the Palm logo appears, release the power button.
6. A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your device. Press UP to complete the hard reset, erasing everything on your device.
7. Your device will then take you through a series of screens to calibrate the digitizer and verify the time and date. Then it will walk you through a brief guided tour of device features and functions.
